A Note From The Principal

Fall Fundraiser Success

Our Fall Entertainment Coupon Book fundraiser was a great success raising close to $9,000 for our school.  We thank you for your support!  More information will be coming home soon for those students who sold 5 books and qualified for the WV Gaming Trailer, which will visit our school on October 18th.  If you haven’t already done so, please return your sample coupon book or $25.00 to your child’s teacher.

An RSVP luncheon invitation will be forthcoming as we get closer to the scheduled dates.  We look forward to you joining us!

Popcorn Fridays

Our first Popcorn Friday is 10/4!  Popcorn Passes for the year are available for $13.00 or you can send in $0.50 for one bag.  Profit will be used to purchase popcorn Friday supplies and student academic rewards and incentives.

Fall Party – You’re invited!

The Fall Costume Party is a huge STE tradition and is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30th at 1:30.  Please plan on joining us! Our costume parade will begin promptly at 1:30 along the playground trail behind our school. Following the parade, students will return to their classrooms for a treat (provided by the school) and juice (provided by the homeroom moms).  If you would like to provide an activity or craft for your child’s class, please check with the homeroom mom.  You are also welcome to do an activity or craft on another day of the week by checking with your child’s teacher.  We welcome your involvement!  As you choose costumes, please adhere to the following:  No costume weapons will be allowed.  Parents, you are welcome and encouraged to dress up as well, but we ask that your face remain uncovered so we can make positive identification (safety).

Party Day Procedures

•             Choose a costume that will slip over clothing as our changing facilities are limited.

•             If assistance is needed, a limit of 1 parent will be permitted in the classroom beginning at 1:15.

•             Parents and guests not helping with costumes should NOT enter the building upon arrival, but instead enter through the back gate (DQ side) to secure a spot on along the parade route.

•             At the conclusion of the parade, all guests are invited to join students in classrooms to continue the Fall Party.

•             PLEASE make sure Not to Park across the street at the Sprout Salon

BULLYING is defined as “any intentional and repeated word, look, sign, or act that hurts a person’s body, feelings, or things.”  Bullying is a serious problem that can have long lasting effects on the victim.  If you suspect bullying, encourage your child to try the following techniques for dealing with the bully:

1.            Tell the bully to STOP.

2.            IGNORE the bully.

3.            WALK AWAY from the bully and the situation.

4.            TALK about his/her feelings with someone he/she trusts.

5.            REPORT the bullying to an adult.

Please contact the school administrator or counselor with any concerns you have regarding bullying.  Together we can make our schools a safe environment for all students.  We will wear orange on Wednesday, October 23rd in support of Unity Day!!

Needed: Boys Elastic Waisted Pants

We try to keep extra clothing in the office in case students have a spill or an accident at school.  We are currently well stocked for girls, but are especially in need of gently used boys pants.  Pants with an elastic waist such as athletic pants are ideal for our purposes.  Please let the office know if you have pants you would be willing to donate.
