Around Our School

Kids Heart Challenge (Jump Rope For Heart) February 14 and 15

It's time for the Kids Heart Challenge and it is also time for Scott Teays to regain the title as the #1 school in the state!  Scott Teays has a long history of contributing to the American Heart Association.   Our contributions help fund research for heart disease and strokes.  It also funds programs to teach our children the importance of staying fit and eating healthy.

Our school receives educational materials, jump ropes, and gift certificates for P.E. equipment based on how much we raise.  This event is especially important in building school spirit and it helps teach our children the importance of volunteering and giving back to the community.

All we ask is that your child brings in at least a $5.00 contribution to participate.  Checks should be made payable to The American Heart Association, or AHA.  Donations can also be made online by following the instructions on the collection envelope.  Students receive prizes based on the amount of donations they collect.  All students who collect an online donation of at least $10.00 will earn a free ticket to the Cincinnati Reds versus the Chicago Cubs on June 28th.  While a donation is requested, no child will be denied the opportunity to participate if they wish to do so.

Thank you in advance for allowing your child to participate.
Sincerely,  Mrs. Harper

What we’re doing...
This past summer, Scott Teays had a team of educators trained in the philosophies of Candace Meyer, who created a revolutionary program called Minds-in-Motion.  This program integrates the brain and body, emphasizing the physiological link between learning and moving.  We’ve been implementing Minds in Motion “Maze” activities on a daily basis school-wide to help strengthen the vestibular system and increase student learning.
